HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: The Fetal Infant Mortality Review tracks infant deaths across the population in order to determine trends in clinical practice, and in patient education and behavior that may be changed or influenced to reduce the risk of infant death. African-Americans have a disproportionate rate of infant mortality in the Northern Virginia region and in the state, and the Northern Virginia Perinatal Council is interested in developing and implementing strategies to reduce this rate.
