Sullivan County Public Health Services

LOCATION: Liberty, NY, U.S.A.

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Government

FOCUS AREA: Children / Families, Environment / Land Use, Food security / Nutrition, Health Care Delivery, Housing / Neighborhoods, Immigration, Income & Wealth, Mental health / Psychology, Public Health, Public Policy, Race / Ethnicity, Social Inclusion, Transportation

HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: We are forming a Health Equity subcommittee of the Rural Health Network: a chair has been chosen and community members have volunteered their interest in participating. At our showing of Unnatural Causes in September 2008, we held a drawing for attendees and 10 copies of the DVD were given out. All agencies who entered the drawing were told that they had to committ to showing the DVD in their agencies/communities. I personally have agreed to speak to nursing students studying community health and will show a portion of the DVD. The local community college library has requested a copy and we have given it, at the express interest of the sociology department chair, who attended the showing, for his use in class.
