National LGBT Cancer Network

LOCATION: New York, NY, U.S.A.

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Non-for-profit advocacy

FOCUS AREA: Education, Health Care Delivery, Public Health, Social Inclusion

HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: The National LGBT Cancer Network addresses the common cancer health disparities shared by all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. We educate the LGBT community about their increased cancer risks and lower screening rates, while encouraging greater participation with the health care system. We also train health care providers to offer more culturally-sensitive care to the LGBT population. The Network encourages much-needed research on the cancer incidence and mortality rates of LGBT people. Finally, we advocate for inclusion of LGBT content and outreach for all major cancer organizations and websites.
