HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: We are an interagency council participating in the National Place Matters Intitiative. Our focus has been on access to health care, including mental health care, and on education. Particpated in the creation of a Rural Health Network looking at how we get health care providers to a rural area and how we get people into primary health care. Tela-med providers. We are also working on helping kids stay out of trouble, involved in healthy activities, in school and transition to higher level education. Also helped start a community development board working on housing and homelessness, and Nat. Champion Community status for job creation. Some of us are also concerned about a potential for a huge landfill coming here.
