HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: Our organization is committed to building respect and understanding across cultures. We provide services related to language access for individuals who have limited English proficiency. We conduct trainings related to increasing access and utilization of services. Some of the trainings focus on increasing knowledge and skills about issues such as power, rank, and privilege, poverty and class, and language and cultural differences. We are beginning to present Unnatural Causes to the Family Practice Residency Program that will be open to community physicians, hospital, clinic and Public Health employees. We work directly with community members and healers such as Hmong shamans to increase their ability to navigate our health and behavioral health systems.
