The Pasadena Birthing Project is a volunteer chapter of Birthing Project USA, the Underground Railroad for New Life. Since 1994, PBP has transformed concern into action through social support, community leadership, public education, service learning and internships, and advocacy. Our innovative translational research and community collaborations are concrete responses to the national, regional and local call to action for Healthy People 2010. Hosted screening events:August 27, 2008: Used clip from "When the Bough Breaks" during executive meeting with the University of California, Santa Barbara to support undergraduate research and student programming for 2008-2009. November 5, 2008: Hosted free community forum held at the California Endowment with USC School of Social Work, USC Center for Premature Infant Health and Development, March of Dimes of Greater Los Angeles, CA Black Women's Health Project and LA County and Pasadena Black Infant Health. February 11, 2009: Addressed teen parent training/graduation with Penny Lane (transitional living) Center and screened clip from "When the Bough Breaks" at Huntington Hospital (Pasadena, CA). May 11, 2009: Hosted undergraduate student forum "Social Action in Health" in collaboration with the UCSB Education Opportunity Program and National Women's Health Week. Screened "When the Bough Breaks" and supported one student's senior research on environmental injustice in the Department of Black Studies. May 27, 2009: Participated in First 5 LA's Policy Roundtable on Black Infant Mortality and screened "When the Bough Breaks" with 29 key stakeholders and commissioners. FOR MORE INFORMATION:
