Center for Democracy and Citizenship

LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN, U.S.A.

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Other

FOCUS AREA: Children / Families, Housing / Neighborhoods, Immigration, International, Mental health / Psychology, Public Health, Public Policy, Race / Ethnicity, Social Inclusion

HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: The Center for Democracy and Citizenship focuses its efforts on organizing coalitions to strengthen civic life in Minnesota and beyond; providing coaching and training in civic engagement in schools and professional and community organizations; and developing best practices in community organizing, including ways to involve young people and new immigrants. A civic perspective on health begins with a simple premise: work to improve health is the responsibility of everyone, not just health professionals. We are convening an ongoing Citizen Health Working Group comprised of educators, students, professionals, legislative staff and citizens to coordinate actions to improve health in Minnesota.
