HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is the leading patient organization for people with asthma and allergies, and the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world. AAFA provides education, research and advocacy on behalf of allergy and asthma patients in the US. Over 20 million Americans have been diagnosed with asthma, and African Americans, certain Hispanic populations and children are disproportionately affected. AAFA published a study, Ethnic Disparities in the Burden and Treatment of Asthma (2005) which is available via its website. AAFA will disseminate information about Unnatural Causes to AAFA chapters and support groups.
