ORGANIZATION TYPE: Other

FOCUS AREA: Children / Families, Education, Health Care Delivery, Immigration, Income & Wealth, Jobs & Work, Mental health / Psychology, Public Health, Public Policy, Race / Ethnicity, Social Inclusion

HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: Brighter Beginnings is committed to reversing the decades-long imbalances which contribute health disparities. We partnerswith pregnant and parenting families, care-givers and communities to nurture the health and well-being of the East Bay's at-risk babies, children and young families. Each year we serve more than 2,600 families in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, almost all of the families we serve are minorities (primarily African American and Latino) from low-income neighborhoods. We see every day the results of the inequities of our healthcare and "safety net" social system.

ACTIVITIES WITH UNNATURAL CAUSES CAMPAIGN:
- Host a screening event featuring UNNATURAL CAUSES
- Engage in media outreach
- Use the series and materials in trainings or classes
- Post and share information about the series with members and constituents
