Native Health Initiative
LOCATION: Albuquerque, NM, U.S.A. ORGANIZATION TYPE: Community / Faith-based FOCUS AREA: Environment / Land Use, Food security / Nutrition, Health Care Delivery, Housing / Neighborhoods, Immigration, Income & Wealth, Media / Journalism, Mental health / Psychology, Public Health, Race / Ethnicity HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: Our framework is health equity and loving service; the latter serves to keep us focused on addressing inequities through love, and not succombing to the "hate" and "fear" based tactics that have created the inequities in the first place. Our work involves addressing the health inequities in American Indian and other communities, through youth empowerment, community-based health projects and research, and advocacy. We are currently showing the series here at the University of New Mexico, and will be holding a Health Equity training, bringing both community and academic/professional activists together, an action step that we feel would be a good addition to the Unnatural Causes curriculum. We would be happy to share the agenda and curriculum from the training.FOR MORE INFORMATION:
